If I could travel through time and space,
I would like to visit………my childhood

If someone asked me that question, I would definitely answer: “ that must be primary school period of my life, especially the period of which I was in South Africa.”
I believe everyone has a desire to return to a special time in ones life of which they have the most vivid memory of. That yearning to return is sometimes just indescribable, yet it is there, no matter how much effort you put into resisting it.
Why do I want to return? I miss those days, those carefree days where I can fish after school, ride my bycicle to wherever I want to go, enjoy a muddy rugby match while the sun disappears from the horizon. I still remember my mom forcing us to swim, yet we ignored her. Now in Taiwan, I can’t even dream of having a private pool!
Yes, I miss those days, but somehow I don’t regret growing up. I guess it’s just a part of life, one has to grow up, time is punctual as it waits for no one. I can still recall myself as a little boy, waiting for the school bell to ring, waiting……and imagining catching a Karp or Barbel by the Sonstraal Dam, waiting…….
One cannot linger on the past anymore, one must face the present, expect the future. I remember I have seen a report that says one often idealizes one’s own memory but it’s never as good as they thought it would be. That is the fault in man I think, we always miss what we don’t have but we never cherish what we do have. So this cycle goes forever on. I imagine twenty years from now, I will moan like I do now about how I miss my college life. Yes, I do miss miss my childhood, but if I have the supernatural power to travel through the vortex of time then I still choose to pass it on.
There is a famous saying by the US comedian Will Rogers: “ Half our life is spent trying to find something to do with the time we have rushed through life trying to save.”
So remember your past, embrace today and hope for a better tomorrow!!
Oh! I forgot, my midterms are near……I must face my present……
